Uyuni,Volcanoes,Flamingos (ATUY 04)

Discover the spectacular Uyuni Salt Flats, several colorful lagoons hosting 3 kinds of flamingos, interesting geological formations, geysers and deserts with surreal views. Enjoy the beauty of the Altiplano like nowhere else.

  • Salt Lake and Eduardo Avaroa Reserve
  • Available March to December

Day 1: Uyuni-Tahua
From Uyuni we depart to the small village of Colchani where locals extract and process salt. We will be shown interesting aspects of the geological history of the Uyuni Salt Lake, about current natural processes of salt formation that had continued for thousands of years, also observe the Ojos de Sal (or salt eyes), where ice cold healing water bubbles through the salt. This water originates from an underground river at the Tunupa Volcano. On the way to Isla Incahuasi, the drive will pass two of the first hotels made entirely from salt blocks, now converted in sort of small museums. At the Isla Incahuasi, we'll enjoy lunch, hike among the huge cacti and observe the wildlife of this rare habitat as we have 360 degree views of the endless Uyuni Salt Lake. In the afternoon we will head north crossing the salt lake towards the Tunupa Volcano, a unique location for an amazing sunset that colors up the landscape of the salt lake. Later we will arrive at the nearby village of Tahua. (L, D)
Day 2: Tahua-Siloli Desert
Early in the morning don´t miss the beautiful sunrise! After breakfast, the tour will cross another section of the Uyuni Salt Lake towards south to observe the Ollague Volcano, which is currently mildly active. There will be stops in several lagoons, such as Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota, Honda, and Ramaditas which offer views of 3 different flamingo species: the James, the Andean and the Chilean, as well as wild troops of Vicuna. Lunch will be enjoyed on the way to the Siloli Desert. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Siloli Desert – Uyuni (or San Pedro de Atacama)
After an early breakfast we continue crossing the Siloli Desert; there will be stops to appreciate some natural monuments carved by the wind, such as the Arbol de Piedra (Stone Tree). Thereafter we arrive to Laguna Colorada, inside the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna Reserve, where we will visit the shooting geysers and hot mud boiling ponds of Sol de Mañana and then stop at the natural hot springs, with safe bathing temperatures, where we are welcome to soak for a while. Later we drive to the Salvador Dali Rock Desert and then stop at Laguna Verde at the base of the Licancabur Volcano to have lunch. The trip will end by returning back to Uyuni town or connect you with a transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile*. (B, L)

  • A month ago we visited Tambopata, thanks to the recommendation of David, because his experience working for many years in this area, convinced us to know the jungle of Puerto Maldonado and we do not regret it. It was a unique and wonderful experience. The whole organization was perfect for us, we felt very safe with our specialized guide and traveling by boat. Thank you for the incredible moment visiting Tambopata!

  • Our trip to the Tambopata Rainforest was a great experience!

A wonderful place to get away from the outside world and have a moment with the environment and with ourselves. Thanks to David’s experience who recommended us to visit this beautiful place.
