Itinerary

Day 1: PUNO-LAMPA-PUCARA-SILLUSTANI
Today we start our Lake Titicaca tour by traveling from Puno to Lampa, a colonial city, then we continue to Pucara, considered one of the oldest ritual centre on the Altiplano, where the Calasaya Pyramid was found. The ride takes 2 hrs and our guide will explain about history, architecture, and other aspects of this Pre Inca site. After lunch, we will visit workshops where famous “Toritos” (Little Bulls of Pucara) are made by local artist, who inherited skills from pre-Columbian ceramists. Then we will drive back Puno with a stop to visit the Sillustani Archaeological Park, an ancient necropolis, one of the largest in the Americas. This Park shows funeral towers or chullpas made from coursed stones. From here we will have spectacular views of Lake Umayo and surrounding hills. The day ends with a visit to the museum and return to Puno. (Box Lunch)
Day 2: PUNO - UROS- TAQUILE ISLAND
Transfer to the port of Puno to embark in a boat to cross Lake Titicaca. This trip is going to take 3 hrs approximately. Our guide will tell us about important facts, traditions, and legends of the Uros and Lake Titicaca. We will go by the Titicaca National Reserve with a short stop at the Uros’ floating islands, who still maintain a life style depending on the use of reef or totora from which they make boats, build floating islands, even grow crops and raise cattle. As soon as we arrive to Taquile Island, we start a slow ascension to the community, on the way we will see inhabitants dressed with their beautiful and colourful traditional outfit. Before lunch, our guide will organize a walk through the narrow streets of the community. So we will have another chance to learn about men and women daily activities including the making of hand-woven textiles, trading, care of livestock, and agricultural activities. This full-day tour offers a good opportunity for photography, to learn about living cultures, and to enjoy the spectacular landscape of Lake Titicaca. Return to Puno. (B)

    • A month ago we visited Tambopata, thanks to the recommendation of David, because his experience working for many years in this area, convinced us to know the jungle of Puerto Maldonado and we do not regret it. It was a unique and wonderful experience. The whole organization was perfect for us, we felt very safe with our specialized guide and traveling by boat. Thank you for the incredible moment visiting Tambopata!
