Pick up at your hotel at 7:00 am to start our trip to the Valley of Supe, to visit the Ciy of Caral located at 182 km from Lima. Caral is known to be the oldest city in the Americas, as ancient as Egypt, Mesopotamia, India and China. The City of Caral has building complexes that show great scientific, technological, and artistic achievements of the Caral Culture, all in isolation, different that other cultures of the Old Continent that had more cultural exchange among them. Arrival to the City of Caral. Guided tour to learn about the greatness of this old city lead by an expert or knowledgeable in archaeology and history. We will explore 6 monumental pyramids, two showing characteristics of the first civilization in Peru and in America. Buildings show an amphitheater, openings for circular offerings, main plazas, residential areas and religious centers. Return to Lima, arriving around 7:00 pm and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Pachacamac and the Gold Museum
Pick up at your hotel and transfer to Southern Lima to the Pachacamac Archaeological Complex. This park is located in the fertile Valley of Lurín that ends in the Pacific Ocean. Pachacamac was an important prehispanic pilgrimage center built in 700 BC to venerate the Sun Go. This ancient center was built of adobe bricks and has an oracle with views to the Valley of Lurín and the Pacific Ocean. Pilgrims came from distant locations to venerate Pachacamac, the creator of the world and all beings. The best preserved sector is a section built by the late Incas (1440-1533). The location recently restored palaces, plazas and temples, also a new site museum that stores one of the best collections of prehispanic relics. Lunch near Pachacamac Archaeological Complex. In the afternoon, we return to Lima to visit the Gold Museum, one of the private largest collections in the world that exhibits an outstanding number of pre-Columbian art produced by the mysterious civilizations of Paracas, Chavín, Nazca, Moche, Wari, Lambayeque, Chimú and Inca. A guided tour will illustrate you about the many cultures that once existed in the Coast and Andes of Peru. The museum also features a collection of fire arms from all over the world. • A month ago we visited Tambopata, thanks to the recommendation of David, because his experience working for many years in this area, convinced us to know the jungle of Puerto Maldonado and we do not regret it. It was a unique and wonderful experience. The whole organization was perfect for us, we felt very safe with our specialized guide and traveling by boat. Thank you for the incredible moment visiting Tambopata!
